First Day Jitters

I was so nervous about school today! Then I got there and realized I was just being silly. I met my new friend and classmate "Lisa" and we went into class together. Got a front row seat too!!! That left me open to be the first one to give an introduction of myself. How do I go about introducing myself? My life is so busy but boring at the same time :) So I just said that I am a mother of three amazing children and the happy wife of a good man. I have wanted to be a nurse ALL my life and I am so excited to be there. I think that was a good answer.

My Teacher "Julie" is awesome! I really clicked with her and had a few chuckles with her about our upcoming experiences in a hospital setting. She dove right into our skills today. First and most important was proper hand hygiene. We rubbed synthetic germs all over out hands. They were really stinky! Then we washed our hands and looked at them under a blacklight. I am a dirty girl!! I thought I washed my hands well. Nope. SO then we used surgical scrub brushes and iodine soap. I though for sure they would be perfectly clean then. Not so. I have to practice something as simple as handwashing. Oh well. Then we went onto assistive devices such as canes, walkers, and crutches. That was fun! A bunch of students walking around with these things trying to learn how to use them properly. We could have been mistaken for a convalescent hospital meeting room! The last skill we learned was how to tie a quick release knot on a restraint. I was the one who was restrained a few times over and my wrists were so sore by the time I was done but I now can tie anyone to a bed. He he watch out!!

Overall, it was a good day. I was just so excited to be there! Tomorrow is from 1-7pm It will be a long day but I am looking forward to it!

I got my boys back from their Dad today too! They have been with him for 4 days and I realized that I was missing them as I was getting ready for school today. Their smiles warmed my heart and Jonathan snuggled on my lap this evening. That was a special treat!

All right I am off to study more. I love this stuff!

Night!
